Day 6 & 7 – Literary Quotes Challenge

Day 6 – Yet another day got away from me, oh how time flies when you are having fun!  It was to be books you find hard to finish.  Other than those I do no finish as I cannot get into them I am not entirely sure I would have been able to select one anyway, I cannot recall finding a book hard to finish, only impossible (still looking at you Mr. Dostoevsky) and so it wasn’t hard to finish but unfinished!

So onwards and upwards….

Day 7 – Favourite Short Story.

Another easy one. There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury

The incredibly sad story of an anthropomorphised house continuing its routine, trying to protect itself, and care for the family which no longer remains.

It closes

Dawn showed faintly in the east. Among the ruins, one wall stood alone. Within the wall,

a last voice said, over and over again and again, even as the sun rose to shine upon the heaped

rubble and steam:

“Today is August 5, 2026, today is August 5, 2026, today is…”

To describe it as the story of a house does it an injustice it is very emotional and heartfelt and sweet and definitely worth taking a few minutes out of your day to read.
